Dear Current or Prospective CBOA – Los Angeles Unit Member,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to welcome your return or becoming a member of the California Basketball Officials Association, Los Angeles Unit (CBOA-LA). Our Instructional Program remains among the best in the country, with an exceptional Instructional Committee and staff. We continue to strive towards our mission’s goal of producing the finest basketball officials around.
Registration is open for the Centennial 2017-2018 high school basketball season. Please take your time and read through all registration related documents completely and carefully. It is YOUR responsibility to pay dues in a timely manner as required. Do not ask for an extension.
Returning Full – $140.00 from 6/1/17 to 9/15/2017 - $200.00 from 9/16/17 to 10/18/17
Returning Associate – $65.00 6/1/17 from to 9/15/17 - $125.00 from 9/16/17 to 10/18/17
New Full - $140.00 until 10/18/17 New Associate - $65 until 10/18/17
These dates will be strictly enforced. DO not request an extension. Dues for returning members will NOT be accepted at any instructional meeting. Dues (and late fees) must be paid in full in order to be considered for assignments and NASO insurance. You must have insurance to qualify for game assignments.
This year’s registration process is as follows:
1) Login:http://www.cboa.net/losangeles/newMemberApplication.cgi. Please correct your information if there are any changes. Next, download, print and complete the Registration Form. ALL members must fill out the online application form completely, sign and date. This information will be forwarded to NASO for insurance purposes, the mailing of Referee magazine, information about other publications and your NASO membership card.
2) Next,if you are a returning member or have already registered at www.labasketballunit.org, there is nothing you have to do, unless any of your information has changed. Please log in and correct the necessary information. The Secretary will activate you upon verification of dues paid. If you are new members, the Secretary will register you in the website, activate your account and notify you by e-mail upon verification of dues paid
3) From the above, mail the completed registration form with your dues to the address below. Refer to the membership guidelines document for the returned check policy. Make your check or money order payable to:

Once your funds have been received and processed, you will be activated on both sites and receive notification from me.
Review the Meeting Dates form for the distribution of instructional materials. If you are unavailable to pick-up your kit in person, contact me to make arrangements to have your kit picked up for you in your absence (advance notification is required by e-mail) or mailed to you at your expense (per-email notice). No kits for returning members will be distributed at any instructional meeting.
Review the instructional meeting date schedule carefully and mark your calendars. Only one make-up meeting will be offered.All members must attend TWO floor practical sessions: one for two-person mechanics and the other for three-person mechanics. Additional, qualifications for Associate members has increased.
